Many people don’t realise that we are actually a working farm!
Burradon Farm is a 400 acre, family-run, working farm with our self-catering properties located at the heart of the site.
All of the original farm buildings have been converted to create our fantastic range of traditional stone barn conversions graded 4* – 5* Gold by VisitEngland.
Guests could be staying in what was a grain barn, cow shed, milking parlour, stable or blacksmiths forge!
We are also lucky enough to have a 14th Century Pele Tower, steeped in history, right on our doorstep.
Guests staying with us enjoy beautiful countryside views and can spot cows, calves and horses in the surrounding fields. We have a couple of chickens too!
Calving season is always a busy time and guests love seeing the newborns enjoying the freedom of the fields with their mums at just a few days old.
Guests will undoubtedly see tractors and farm machinery at work – there is some pretty impressive machinery to spot, particularly at harvest time!
There are also lots of waggonways surrounding the farm with great walks and cycle routes straight from your cottage door.
Guests often comment that our location is perfect! They enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding countryside, our proximity to the spectacular Northumbrian coast and countryside as well as the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne.
