Devastating news for dedicated Great North Runners in 2020, however the date for the Great North Run 2021 has now been confirmed.
The 40th Great North Run will now be celebrated in style on Sunday 12th September 2021. Since 1981 over 1.2 million people have taken part, making it the world’s biggest and best half marathon. Runners can visit the GNR website for further details of how to take part.
Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne the 13.1 mile route takes runners through the city and over the iconic Tyne Bridge. Runners then travel through Gateshead while being entertained by Bands on The Run! The route is lined by thousands of supporters and leads runners towards South Shields. The view of the sea from the top of Prince Edward Road is a welcome sight. From that point there is just over a mile to go towards the finish line and your well deserved medal!
We will miss the Great North Runners (and supporters) staying at Burradon Farm this year. Located only 20 minutes from the start line, and with public transport routes available, we are an ideal place to stay. We are thrilled that many have decided to come anyway to enjoy the beautiful City and countryside nearby.
We get lots of repeat bookings for the GNR weekend and the Great North Run 2021 is already booking up! With accommodation sleeping from 1 – 8 people you can enjoy a weekend away with family or friends. We are taking accommodation bookings now for this popular weekend – don’t miss out!
