Fells Kitchen provides a unique experience where guests can enjoy a fully catered gourmet outdoor adventure!
Getting out into the hills is a brilliant way to clear your mind, relieve stress and learn outdoor skills. It’s the perfect activity to improve positivity, health and wellbeing.
Fells Kitchen is run by Chris, an experienced chef and qualified Mountain Leader. He will happily guide groups who love to hike and can’t resist a fantastic food experience!
Chris will conjure up delicious menus to suit all dietary needs and preferences. Make sure you follow Fells Kitchen Adventures on Facebook to see some of the wonderful experiences on offer.
All experiences can be tailor-made, however a typical adventure would spend the morning enjoying a beautiful hike through the hills before stopping for a bit of wild swimming while Chris prepares a delicious lunch cooked over a wood fired stove. The afternoon would bring more scenic hiking, followed by a well-earned dessert – think cherry creme brûlée or chocolate and salted caramel tart!
Fells Kitchen Adventures has many different experiences to enjoy:
Why not join a Navigation and Wood Fired Pizza Adventure in the Ingram Valley? Designed for little adventurers aged between 8 and 15, it will teach the basics of navigation, map reading and compass work. All followed by the opportunity to cook a wood fired pizza for lunch. What’s not to like?!
The Goats and Gourmet experience joins forces with Wild Intrigue and takes you to the rolling Cheviot Hills. Discover the legendary Cheviot Goats, one of the oldest herds of wild animals in Britain. Take in breathtaking views of the College Valley whilst enjoying a two course, al fresco gourmet meal.
If ghyll scrambling is your thing – the gourmet adventure experience at Ashgill Force near Alston in Northumberland is a great choice.
Chris also offers Beginners/Refresher Navigation Days. These expeditions are ideal for those who have never done any map and compass work or those who need a bit of a refresher. Delicious food is included of course, and often the opportunity for a waterfall/river swim for those brave enough!
Chris loves guiding guests around Simonside, Wooler, the Cheviot Hills and the North Pennines, all of which are about one hour drive from Burradon Farm – or he would be happy to discuss any other location around the UK.
Maybe it’s a special birthday, or a group of friends or families making memories. Whatever the occasion, Chris can plan hikes suitable for all abilities. No one will be left at the back and not all of the hikes have to be up a hill or a mountain! There’s plenty of flatter routes to enjoy, and most routes stop at a river or waterfall so that guests are able to have a swim whilst lunch is being lovingly prepared!
Fresh air and delicious food – what more could you ask for?!
