Amble Bord Waalk

Have you tried the Amble Bord Waalk yet?!  This unique sculpture trail is inspired by the birdlife of the Northumberland Coast and features puffins, terns and gulls amongst others.

The Bord Waalk (‘Bird Walk’ for anyone from outside the area) trail has been created by nationally and internationally-renowned artists.

There is no set route to follow the trail of 12 bird related art exhibits.  They are dotted around the town giving you the perfect excuse to have an explore!  Our favourites are:

  • Flock Sphere by Rob Mulholland next to the Coquet Shorebase.  You can climb carefully inside this one to get some great photos with Warkworth Castle in the distance.
  • Bird Heads by Andrew Burton can be found in the Town Square – opposite Spurreli boutique icecream parlour (delicious!).  Enjoy your icecream or fish and chips sitting next to this collection of puffin and gull heads!
  • The Big Puffin in Paddlers Park is a larger than life character!  Located in a well kept park/playpark overlooking a pretty bay with views of Coquet Island.

Amble is a great place to explore, from its working harbour and lobster hatchery to cafes and restaurants.

A lovely selection of shopping pods can be found in Amble Harbour – perfect for picking up local gifts or treats during your visit.

Amble is really popular for its puffins – why not take a boat tour to see them on nearby Coquet Island.

Don’t forget the Amble Puffin Festival every May which celebrates everything puffin!
