Amazing Memories

You are sure to make lots of amazing memories during your trip to the North East!

Why not take home a memento of your stay – we are really lucky to have a fantastic array of local artists to choose from.

We love the work of Ben Holland, who has a gallery in Park View, Whitley Bay.  We’ve just bought a gorgeous print of our favourite Northumberland Castles for our new cottage, the Cartshed.

‘Coastal Castles of Northumberland’ features three designs of Northumberland’s most breath-taking coastal castles, Lindisfarne, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh.  What’s not to love?!

Ben’s range of artwork is amazing!  Think local landmarks such as the Tyne Bridge or the Angel of the North.  Iconic buildings such as the Spanish City, St Mary’s Lighthouse or the Strawberry Pub – a favourite with NUFC fans!  Beautiful Northumberland villages and coastline, castles, gardens and much more.

Why not pop into Ben’s studio and have a browse – there’s lots to do in Whitley Bay, with great coffee shops, independent shopping and more amazing memories to make!

Of course there are many different artists based in the area with something to suit all tastes.

The beautiful work of Emily Ward can be found in many outlets across the North East, or you can book a visit to her gallery in North Shields.

Joanne Wishart’s gallery is located in Cullercoats where you will discover vibrant coastal and landscape paintings, prints and gifts inspired by the North East.

The Links Art Gallery is a favourite of ours and also displays the work of Chris Lishman Photography if you prefer photographic art.  You can also enjoy their lovely Italian café then take a walk along the promenade or enjoy the beach at Whitley Bay.

The Hearth Arts Centre features many local artists including wildlife artists, printmakers, ceramics and textiles. We love the work of Jina Gelder Illustrations – keep an eye out for some of her work on art trails around the country!

Tynemouth Market is a treasure trove of local talent which can be enjoyed every Saturday and Sunday.  You’ll find local artists, artisan bakers, bric-a-brac and much more!

Take a trip to the Milkhope Centre for a range of country shops, lovely café and the Blagdon Gallery.

Based in the Ouseburn area of Newcastle upon Tyne, the Biscuit Factory  is the UK’s largest independent commercial art gallery.  Just minutes walk from Newcastle Quayside it has two floors of art, craft and design – and there’s a great café and restaurant too!

There are many other independent art galleries in the area.  ,Why not while away a few hours in the Mary Ann Rogers Gallery  in Hexham,  The Old School Gallery in Alnmouth, the Fenwick Gallery in Warkworth or Darren Mundy Art in Whitley Bay.

Amazing memories of your stay are just an art gallery away!

Our local artists produce some unique work for us all to treasure – lets keep supporting them as much as we can!
