Spanish City

The Spanish City is an iconic building located on Whitley Bay seafront, just a short drive from Burradon Farm.

An impressive refurbishment has brought the Spanish City back to it’s former glory. It now houses family-friendly restaurants, fine dining, a tea room, event spaces and a champagne bar.

Inside the magnificent dome you will find Trenchers Fish and Chip Restaurant an award winning restaurant and takeaway. Trenchers is always recommended by our guests, especially for their gluten-free menu!

Also inside is The 1910 Restaurant which specialises in spectacular steak and seafood dishes served in contemporary surroundings.

Party goers will love the Champagne Bar where you can enjoy panoramic sea views whilst sipping your fizz in style!

Our favourite has to be Valerie’s Tearoom with its delicious brunch and daytime menus and mouthwatering cake selection.

Encompassed on the outside of the building are some great independent traders:

For the Love of the North is a quirky gift shop celebrating everything North East and showcasing local artists and creatives.

The Split Chimp Ale House is a popular micropub with outdoor seating which serves excellent real ales.

Hazy Daze Bottle Shop is a craft beer shop and taproom with draught beers and great views!

Have you ever wondered where the Spanish City gets its name? It’s all to do with the Spanish style canvas and wood awnings that were originally used to protect audiences from the elements and were painted to look like a Spanish village. Who knew?!
