Guest safety is our main priority at Burradon Farm. We want to make sure that you can relax and enjoy your stay with us without any concerns.
All of our properties have been assessed by an independent, Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) qualified, fire risk assessor.
We have recently upgraded all of our internal doors to meet new fire regulations. We have also installed thumb turn latches and improved smoke detection.
We have clear fire action notices next to the main entrance of each property (which can easily be removed from the wall if needed).
What3words locators are provided for each property so emergency services can find us quickly.
All cottages have gas central heating and carbon monoxide detectors are present next to each boiler. Carbon monoxide detectors are also present where there is a gas fire or woodburning stove.
Night lights are provided to illuminate exit routes and guests will find a lantern/torch under the sink should it be needed.
Smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and lighting/torches are tested/checked at every changeover.
All electrical equipment is PAT tested annually and mains electric systems are tested every five years in line with guidance.
All gas appliances are tested and serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Outside areas at the front and rear of the properties are lit by light sensitive lighting which illuminate from dusk to dawn.
Our properties are maintained to a high standard to ensure that the equipment, furniture and fittings we provide are safe to use. We also ensure that our properties are free from everyday dangers such as tripping and fire hazards.
Solo travellers in particular tell us they feel reassured knowing that there are owners on site.
Of course we do need guests to follow a few basic rules in order to protect themselves too and these are all detailed in the guest folder. The guest folders provide lots of useful information, from fire safety to what to do in a medical emergency.
A little reminder that we don’t allow smoking/vaping and candles are prohibited. In addition, electric vehicle charging is not permitted (but there are plenty of places to charge your EV nearby). It is also not permitted to charge e-bikes or their batteries from any property in any way (if you need e-bike batteries to be charged during your stay this can be done in the office by prior arrangement during office hours).
Some of these tips can also be used to keep you safe at home:
- Internal doors should be closed at night and when the property is unoccupied.
- Phones/technology should not be left charging in bedrooms unattended or overnight.
- Electrical equipment should not be charged on beds, under pillows or on soft furnishings.
- Tumble driers and dishwashers should not be used overnight or when the property is unoccupied.
We hope that all of the above shows how important guest safety is to us. You can now relax and enjoy your stay!
