The North East boasts an amazing array of local artists – why not take home a wonderful memory of your stay?!
The choice is huge – from original artwork to prints, ceramics and textiles to beautiful photographs or sea glass creations.
The vibrant work of local artist Emily Ward, featured above, can be found in many independent outlets across the North East, including the Links Art Gallery.
The Links Art Gallery is a favourite with us and also displays the work of Chris Lishman Photography and many more! Don’t forget to enjoy their lovely Italian café and a stroll along the promenade or the beach at Whitley Bay.
The Hearth Arts Centre features many local artists including wildlife artists, printmakers, ceramics and textiles. We love the work of Jina Gelder Illustrations. They also have a cosy cafe featuring artist’s work and home made treats!
Tynemouth Market is a treasure trove of local talent which can be enjoyed every Saturday and Sunday. You’ll find local artists, artisan bakers, bric-a-brac and much more!
Take a trip to the nearby Milkhope Centre for a range of country shops, lovely café and the Blagdon Gallery.
The Ouseburn area of Newcastle upon Tyne boasts dozens of artist’s studios housed in some of Newcastle’s most historic buildings.
Also based in Ouseburn, the Biscuit Factory is the UK’s largest independent commercial art gallery. It is just minutes walk from the Quayside and the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. Enjoy browsing its two floors of art, craft and design – and there’s a great café too!
Of course there are many other independent art galleries just a short drive from Burradon Farm. Why not while away a few hours in the Mary Ann Rogers Gallery in Hexham? Or try the Old School Gallery in Alnmouth or the Fenwick Gallery in Warkworth, to name a few.
Our local artists produce some unique work for us all to treasure – let’s keep supporting them as much as we can!
