Country lovers and ramblers are spoilt for choice locally with walks from the doorstep along the winding waggonways. There are also great walks nearby at Weetslade Country Park, Plessey Woods, Hauxley, Bolam Lake or Northumberlandia.
A little further afield visitors will love the wild, wonderful and unspoilt Northumberland National Park. Visit the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall with historic Roman Forts along its 84 miles. Watch the sun rising over Sycamore Gap and marvel at the amazing archaeology, spectacular landscapes and rare wildlife.
There are many glorious gardens and historical sites to visit such as Wallington, Seaton Delaval Hall, Belsay and Gibside.

The North East is home to stretches of great cycle trails or explore local cycle routes straight from the door. Why not hire a bike and discover the fantastic mountain bike trails at Kielder Water and Forest Park.
