The summer has arrived and we can certainly recommend a wander through Ouseburn on Newcastle Quayside. Once an industrial hub Ouseburn is now a hip residential area clustered around the meandering Ouseburn River.
The area has plenty of things for families and explorers looking for an afternoon out. The entrance to Victoria Tunnel is the starting point for historic underground tours. Once a 19th-century coal wagon route it is a fascinating place but definitely not for the claustrophobic!
Don’t miss Ouseburn Farm with its gardens and farm animals or Seven Stories the National Centre for Children’s Books. While away a few hours at the Biscuit Factory Art Gallery or try one of the cafes, pubs and micro-breweries.
The Cluny is an intimate live music venue and bar located in a former bottling plant. The Cluny hosts up-and-coming acts in a relaxing environment with good beer, tasty food and it’s dog friendly too!
Why not book a riding lesson at Stepney Bank Stables and enjoy a unique city centre equestrian experience. Fancy a walk? Follow the Ouseburn along to the River Tyne to discover Newcastle’s infamous Quayside!
Burradon Farm is only 20 minutes drive from Ouseburn on Newcastle Quayside and there’s plenty of parking in and around the area.
